“Let food be thy medicine” - Hippocrates
“Although many patients are convinced of the importance of food in both causing and relieving their problems, many doctors' knowledge of nutrition is rudimentary. Most feel much more comfortable with drugs than foods, and the “food as medicine” philosophy of Hippocrates has been largely neglected. That may be about to change. Concern about obesity is rocketing up political agendas, and a growing interest in the science of functional foods is opening up many therapeutic possibilities.”
“There is thus great potential for good, some possibility of harm, and much uncertainty. The question of fortifying foods inevitably becomes highly political, and the politics of nutrition are just as complex as the science. Owen Dyer tells how the United States government—lobbied by food manufacturers—is trying to undermine a report by the World Health Organization on Diet, Nutrition, and the Prevention of Chronic Disease (p 185).” - above article.

Your nutrition is paramount to your wellbeing, your endurance, your stamina, your ability to burn fat, your brain function, the production of healthy cells, upkeeping a strong immune system, healthy hair, healthy skin, healthy eyesight, your longevity, your vitality, your sexual health, your ability to reproduce effectively, your heart strength, preventing obesity, reversing obesity, managing and reversing the effects of diabetes, The list goes on and on. You are what you eat.
If you can begin to make the changes needed day in and day out to the things you eat your life will transform faster then you realize. Working with a coach and guide to help you through the process of changing what you eat can make leaps and bounds in your health over the course of 3 months, 6 months, and a year.
Most of your cells turn over in the matter of 6 months. So in 6 months time you can really truly become a new person!
This is incredible and gives you so much power to transform who you are. If you are not happy with the trajectory of your life oftentimes this trajectory can be drastically changed by the way you eat.

Nasturtium is one of my favorite garden plants after being introduced to it. The entire plant is edible and delicious. The flowers, leaves, and stems. It has a slight peppery taste. Both the leaves and petals of the nasturtium plant are packed with nutrition, containing high levels of vitamin C. It has the ability to improve the immune system, tackling sore throats, coughs, and colds, as well as bacterial and fungal infections. -urbancultivator.net
The way I eat and what I eat lends to the ability to function in the mountains to the degree I do with a relative amount of ease. It also helps me maintain my fitness without exercising as much. Many say that our fitness, our weight, and our health is anywhere from 60- 80% of the equation is determined by our diet, while only 20-40% is the actual exercise we do.
It is not until you are lifting and exercising for 2-5 hours+ per day that you would begin to be able to eat a large amount of empty calories on top of one's baseline nutrition. Even then, if one can avoid “food” that is devoid of any nutritional content this is an ideal situation. There are only a few situations where we should resort to putting things into our bodies that have no nutritional benefit, this would possibly be in the case of starvation, sometimes complex medical situations, but more often than not putting these things into our bodies will be to our detriment.
This leads to the issue of our chemical agricultural systems.
Our “food” as it has been called has been poisoned. It has been destroyed by a chemical agricultural deathscape. In the pursuit of making foods look better, make foods grow bigger, mono cropping, and the “need” to destroy “pests” fungi, and “weeds” We have not only destroyed the necessary biodiversity of our landscapes we also have destroyed our soils.
This has caused the nutritional content of foods to be reduced. Even though a plant may look good, and be larger this means nothing to me if the nutritional content is reduced. This reduces the ability of our foods to be medicine and only increases one's need to supplement with the lost nutrients.
Our foods are also covered in chemical compositions that can accumulate both inside us and destroy different aspects of our being like our gut flora. But it also accumulates on our planet; this includes glyphosate also known as round up, created by the Monsanto chemical company. glyphosate is water soluble and travels easily within water where ever water goes which is everywhere both on our planet and in our bodies.
There are large movements around the globe to return to better and more sustainable farming practices that are based in a harmonious way of living rather than a way of farming established in the mindset of war.
One method of farming and food production that is sustainable is the art and practice of permaculture.

If we wage war upon the earth, we wage war upon ourselves.
Work with me to change the landscape of your life and the landscapes of our world.
